Izorline
calls this a "Deckhand Set" with good reason: most of the deckhands on
Southern California's party and charterboats use it, or at least
use something very similar. Despite the recent flood of $100+ titanium
fishing pliers, good old needle-nose pliers and dikes are still the
most useful tools out there for basic saltwater fishing
tasks -- cutting line and removing hooks. And having both on your hip
makes them still better. Even on your own boat, a holster system like
this is very handy. No more digging around
in the console for your pliers or trying to figure out where they got
set down last. These 6-inch stainless tools are made in China, but they're nonetheless very good tools with accurate cutting surfaces. The holster is real cowhide that weathers to a nice patina in the sun and salt. |

Izorline Stainless Deckhand Set $29.00/set $21.00/set (ship weight .8 lbs.) |

| For
crimping 80- to 200-lb. leaders to be used with relatively light
tackle, you just don't need $80 crimpers. These super-cheap but
perfectly functional crimpers work just fine, and they last fairly well
too. As a general rule, we tie everything up to 60-lb. and crimp
everything 80-lb. and heavier. |
